Flood Control Trailer Rotary Lobe Pumps

Review mobile rotary lobe pumps for floodwater drainage using the required flow, changing water levels, debris, and hose route. Match the drive and trailer arrangement to the deployment site and operating duration.

Define the Floodwater Source and Drainage Duty

Identify the collection point and discharge destination for flooded roads, underpasses, basements, or stormwater sumps. Provide the required drainage rate, expected ongoing inflow, level range, and available operating time.

Water and debris
Actual intake conditions. Describe silt, sand, hard objects, bags, and long fibers separately, including any sewage, oils, or other contamination.
Temporary installation
Levels, hoses, and access. Provide pump elevation, intake and discharge routes, connection standards, available power, and trailer access.

Debris Screening, Abrasive Silt & Cleaning Access

Report hard-object sizes separately from soft debris and stringy material. Review intake screening, passage dimensions, and the selected model together; a nominal solids size does not establish that bags, rags, or stones will pass without blockage.

Describe sand and silt loading when known, and select wetted materials and available wear components for the actual water. Check drawings for inspection and cover-removal access, including isolation and drainage before clearing debris.

Flood Drainage Review Inputs
Review Point Why It Matters Data Needed
Water and solids Defines screening, passage, and wear review Debris type, hard particle sizes, fibers, silt loading, contamination
Flow and discharge Defines the required operating point Flow with units, ongoing inflow, discharge elevation and pressure, hose layout
Levels and runtime Defines changing intake conditions and deployment needs Source level range, pump elevation, operating duration, available power

Hose Layout, Priming & Falling Water Levels

Provide suction hose bore, length, fittings, and the vertical distance from the lowest water level to the pump. Review air leaks, intake submergence, and discharge losses using the actual route. Water depth alone does not define suction lift, and priming time must be assessed for the installation.

As inflow falls, air entry or an exposed intake can interrupt liquid supply. Agree on priming limits, seal support, level monitoring, shutdown, and restart controls for the selected package. Any allowable empty-running exposure depends on configuration, speed, and duration.

Drive, Trailer Access & Operating Duration

Specify available electrical power or the need for an engine-driven package. Match the drive to starting and running duty, and confirm fuel capacity or supply arrangements against the required runtime using the proposed engine’s consumption data.

Review package dimensions and mass, towing interface, access route, parking area, hose handling, and maintenance space. Confirm the actual connections, controls, lifting points, and documentation included in the offer.

Document the temporary layout

A sketch showing the intake, pump position, hose sizes and lengths, elevation changes, and discharge point helps compare deployment options before selecting the package.

Data for Mobile Flood Control Pump Sizing

  • Water: source, contamination, debris type, hard particle sizes, fibers, sand and silt, and any intake screening.
  • Duty: flow and pressure or head with units, estimated ongoing inflow, level range, drainage time, runtime, and expected interruptions to supply.
  • Deployment: pump elevation, hose sizes and lengths, discharge route, connection standards, power or fuel supply, towing and access constraints, and required controls.
