Soap & Detergent Rotary Lobe Pumps
Review soap and detergent transfer through temperature, viscosity, foam, and cleaning requirements. For processed foods, also define product-contact materials and hygienic requirements for the specific duty.
Request Pump SizingDefine the Product and Transfer Cycle
Identify the formulation and whether the duty is tank transfer, batch filling, or process feed. Supply starting and running conditions separately, including idle periods and the cleaning cycle.
- Soap and detergent
- Formulation-specific behavior. Describe viscosity, foam sensitivity, and any thickening, solidification, or crystallization observed during cooling.
- Processed food
- Product and hygiene requirements. Specify the food, quality limits, particles, cleaning method, and required product-contact documentation.
Temperature, Inlet Feeding & Cold Starts
Provide viscosity with temperature, units, and measurement conditions, including the lowest expected starting temperature. Where the product thickens or solidifies on cooling, review inlet feeding, drive requirements, and a defined warm-up sequence before restart.
If heating is needed, confirm jacket availability and permitted heating medium, pressure, and temperature for the selected model. Include upstream pipework and valves in the temperature plan; warming the pump alone may leave the inlet restricted.
| Review Point | Why It Matters | Data Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Viscosity and temperature | Defines starting and running conditions | Viscosity data, minimum start, normal, maximum, and cleaning temperatures |
| Flow and pressure | Defines each transfer stage | Required flow, backpressure, batch volume and time, source level, and pipe layout |
| Heating and idle cycle | Defines warm-up and shutdown needs | Observed cooling behavior, idle duration, available heating medium and supply conditions |
Foam, Entrained Air & Product Texture
For foam-sensitive detergents, describe air already present in the feed and how the source tank, suction line, and filling outlet are arranged. Review air entry and inlet restrictions alongside speed; reducing speed alone does not establish foam control.
For products with texture or dispersion limits, define acceptance checks and report any soft pieces, hard particles, or agglomerates. Review passage geometry and representative product trials where needed before assuming texture or particle integrity will be retained.
Seal Compatibility, Deposits & Shutdown Cleaning
Review wetted metals, rotor coverings, seal faces, and elastomers against the complete formulation and cleaning chemicals at their actual temperatures and concentrations. Include any abrasive particles or deposits reaching the seal.
If the product dries, crystallizes, or hardens during idle, agree on draining, flushing, and restart procedures for the proposed seal arrangement. Confirm any support fluid, monitoring, and leakage handling against the selected equipment’s instructions.
Specify the cleaning agent, concentration, temperature, duration, and required access. Confirm how residues will be removed and cleaning verified between batches.
Processed Foods: Confirm the Hygienic Configuration
Provide the food-contact requirements and documents needed for the actual product, temperature range, and cleaning process. Review the proposed pump’s wetted materials, connections, seal arrangement, drainability, and inspection access; a stainless-steel body alone does not establish hygienic suitability.
Where cleaning in place is required, agree on the cleaning procedure and how it will be validated for the installed system. Confirm which material declarations, surface-finish records, or other specified documents are included in the offer.
